Born in Marseille of Cote d'Ivorian extraction with a junior career at the colourfully named Bouc-Bel-Air, Sagbo's career toured the bottom half of the French League with Monaco and Evian.  Steve Bruce bought promise rather than experience with Sagbo, whose main claim to fame is a French Cup Final goal in 2013, where Evian were the losing side. He bought an immediate powerful presence to the City forward line, but a petulant streak that saw him red carded against Norwich for a feeble head butt. By mid season he was a regular presence up front, turning in strong performances but only occasional goals. But the signing of Long and Jelavic saw Sagbo reduced to bench duties in the League, starting in the Cups and contributing vital goals on the way to Wembley.  He also picked up a fine for tweeting a message of apparent support for Nicolas Anelka, at a time when the ex-Arsenal sulk-machine had been severely reprimanded for his gesture of support for a racist French "comedian". In 2014-15 he spent a short period on loan at Wolves before returning to bolster the City front line as Nikica Jelavic recovered from injury.
